Dhamaru’s* music has deep bows to the African, Latin American, and Indian classical traditions as well as the natural western influences of rock and jazz. Their sound is a fresh and interesting blend of ancient world rhythms, acoustic and electric stringed instruments, and mantra-style vocals.
Their live concert performances have been met with much enthusiasm and excitement up and down the East coast. They can be seen performing at alternative venues such as holistic retreats and festivals, yoga studios, and house concerts. Dhamaru has become well known for their ability to accompany yoga and various styles of movement classes such as trance dance and Nia.
Chuck met Colin Allured when he opened a show for Ghandharva in North Carolina. They formed an instant friendship and lasting musical relationship and have been recording and touring the U.S. since 2007. Dhamaru released their first full-length, self-titled CD in August 2010. In November of 2011 their song Mantra Dance was added to the compilation Seva CD Vol.4 produced and released by The Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. On December 1, 2013 they released a new EP entitled "Birth". This disc includes guest appearances by Hammond B-3 organ wizard John Ginty and Jeff Hambright on slide guitar.
